What is keyword density?

Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears in a text, as a percentage of all the words. If the phrase "bakery in Rawalpindi" appears 5 times in a 500-word page, its density is about 1%. This tool counts single words and two- and three-word phrases so you can see what your page is really about.

Is there a perfect density?

No. Search engines today understand topics and meaning, not just repeated words. As a rough guide, the main keyword appearing naturally around 0.5% to 2% of the time is common. If one word is far above 3%, the text may read as keyword stuffing, which can hurt rather than help.

How to use the results

  • Check that your main keyword and close variations actually appear — in the title, first paragraph and a heading.
  • If an unimportant word tops the list, the text may be off topic.
  • Use related phrases (for example "fresh cakes", "birthday cake", "sweets") instead of repeating one phrase again and again.
  • Always read the text aloud. If it sounds unnatural, rewrite it.

Your text is analysed in your browser and is not sent anywhere.
